Atelier 111 is honored to present an intimate concert with Katya Grineva, internationally acclaimed Steinway Artist, known for her lyrical restraint and poetic expressiveness. On this special evening, Katya will perform live on our rare Aeolian Steinway Duo-Art Piano, a historically significant instrument once owned by Adolph Zukor, the visionary founder of Paramount Pictures.

The title The Light Between the Notes reflects the spirit of this event—where music is experienced not only in the sound, but in the stillness that surrounds it. It is a celebration of delicacy, presence, and the intangible magic that lives in moments of silence and resonance. This performance honors that space—where grace unfolds without force, and beauty is found in what lingers.

The program will include works by Mozart, Debussy, and Chopin, chosen to highlight both the subtle lyricism of the piano and Katya’s remarkable gift for romantic interpretation. Originally played in Zukor’s private New York gatherings—where the Duo-Art system preserved live performances on piano rolls—the instrument has remained silent for decades. On April 25th, it will come alive again, reawakened by the hands of an artist who understands its language.

The Artist

Katya Grineva is a pianist of rare distinction, celebrated worldwide for her emotional depth, tonal clarity, and poetic interpretations. Born in Moscow and trained at the Moscow Conservatory, she moved to New York in 1989 to continue her studies and pursue her dream of performing at Carnegie Hall—a dream she has not only realized, but surpassed.

Incredibly, Katya has performed for 22 seasons at Carnegie Hall’s legendary main stage, a milestone no other female pianist is known to have achieved. Her long-standing presence at one of the world’s most prestigious venues is a testament to both her artistry and the deep connection she creates with audiences.

Her approach to music favors nuance over spectacle. Audiences often describe the experience of hearing Katya perform as “sinking into the sweet abyss of the music.” Her playing invites the listener into a space of stillness and wonder—where each note is carefully shaped, and each silence carries weight.

In addition to performing with major orchestras across Europe, South America, and the United States, Katya has a history of performing in support of cultural and philanthropic causes. She is a dedicated Steinway Artist and recipient of numerous international honors, including the Gusi Peace Prize. A frequent traveler to Taos, Katya holds a special connection to this landscape and community, making this event not only a concert—but a personal offering.
